My friend Basil, N7NIX, will be
our speaker at the next General Meeting of the MBARC. This will be Tuesday, April 11, at 7 PM
in the large meeting room at the Ferndale Library. He will be talking
about WINLINK and show us how this can be implemented on a Raspberry Pi. RMS
(Radio Mail Server) provides a way for us to send email over RF with
amateur radio. Most of the software used to do this has been Windows
based. Basil is one of the authors of PACKLINK-UNIX, which allows us to
interact with the Winlink 2000 radio email system with our Linux
computers. Basil is also one of the programmers on the Northwest Digital
Radio team. You will find his APRS nodes on your Xastir screen. Look
for them on Lopez Island. His talk will be one
week before our Digital Group's next meeting. This meeting is open to
everyone, so help us get the word out to other ham radio groups in our
area. I hope you all can join us for his
presentation and then we can follow up with more discussion at our own
meeting a week later. If you have, or plan to have, a UDRC board, you
won't want to miss this one. Budd WB7FHC |
